Values & Policy
Zack Filipovich's commitments to Minnesotans — grounded in accountability, transparency, and service to local communities.
We've seen bad actors sowing false narratives about fraud to undermine public trust in the institutions that support our most vulnerable. These intentional narratives will take significant work on the part of the next State Auditor to undo.
I'm committed to that work, and I believe that work begins in conversation with our communities. Combating this disinformation starts with connecting with people across our shared values of fairness and honesty when it comes to using our public dollars. Trust is earned through intentional relationship building and practicing the principles of co-governance, bridging the gap between government and community.
I have always said that the most important meeting of the year for the Duluth City Council was when we approved the budget. People should have the opportunity to know how their local tax dollars get spent, how those decisions are made, and how the State Auditor's office interacts with their local unit of government.
As State Auditor, I will host town halls and public meetings across Minnesota, partnering with local government leaders and finance professionals (for example: township treasurers, county commissioners, school board members, city finance directors) to provide insight into not only the role of the State Auditor more broadly, but also how the office partners with and supports local government, providing direct examples of OSA's work in each community.
